Questions and
Answers
- What is a Jim Crow? It is a bender for
bending rail.
- Where does the name come from? An
old English word for a small pry bar is a a jim, presumably where you
"jimmy a lock" is to use a small crowbar to prise a door open. Same as
crow as in crowbar. So it is a bar bar!
- What profile can I use it on? I have
tried from 21mm to 38mm profile rail. You may need to grind down the
hooks and threaded bar if you want to use it on smaller profile.
- Can I use it on bar track? Yes, there are
two alternative plates that you bolt on or you can just use it as is.
- Is 5mm steel man enough? I have bent 38mm
tall rail with no issue. Why do you need anymore steel?
- Shouldn't it have trapezodial/ACME
thread? Yes if you want to pay £35 more No - M20 thread is finer to
apply more force. Long thread contact area will not wear out in normal
use. Keep thread greased to help reduce friction and wear.
